Alan's granddaughter Michelle Norton-Baker has provided the Association with the following information. The Association wishes to express it's deepest sympathies to the Norton-Baker family in the recent passing of Alan on the 20th March 2008.

 

"In 1942 My Grandfather, ALAN BRIAN NORTON-BAKER was transferred from No 39 Squadron to the 459 Squadron. He was part of the first air crew and served with Wing Commander P Howson, Pilot Sergeant N Powell, Navigator and Sergeant N Martin (Wop/A.G.). He completed 51 sorties and 301 combat hours with 459 Squadron until his transfer to No 70 Operational Training Unit at Nakaru, Kenya.

 

Sadly, Grandpa passed away on the 20th March, 2008 in Adelaide.

 

I know he was a very proud to be a member of the 459 Squadron."
