Volunteered RAF; 107 Maintenance Unit Egypt; 454 Squadron October 1942 until "peace broke out" 9.5.45. Returned and with Golden Fleece Petroleum until retirement 1979.
Set personal example despite incessant dust, sand, heat of desert, mud, slush, chill of Italian campaign. Serviceability of aircraft highest priority. Respected technical perfectionist like "Baldy" Culligan and "Chalky" White, fellow Flight Sgts. BEM in recognition of performance of duties and gallantry.
When Ken Rimmer visited Australia in 1990 he made contact with Bob Mitchell and Jack Stacey in Adelaide. Ken joined them in the Anzac Day march with ex 454 members.
After the parade they all met at Jack's for a barbeque as follows:
